Mammalian — Vertebrates are only one of many strands of life on earth, but we are an important one. The class ‘Mammals’ is the sub-strand that contains humans. Our sense of left and right, up and down, male and female, all go much deeper than our humanity. Our ‘nature’ is to some extent ‘human,’ but it’s a lot deeper than that. It is popular to call us “animals,” and when this is done, I think the speaker is pointing to ways in which humans are tuning in to aspects of the ‘field’ of our ‘nature’ which are deeper than human. I think when we deny these aspects we operate at a level of unreality that puts us in great peril.
I’m doing hard work. I want to give myself credit for that.
Seeing myself as less than who I believed myself to be.
Working not to let the pain get in the way, too much. Working to breathe into my “new reality,” to accept it with as much grace as possible.

Oil!
Of course, it’s not a “treasure” until it’s recognized as such.
